All-Ireland Chess Finals 2024

In the Ardilaun Hotel, Taylors Hill, Galway.

Wednesday, 5th June 2024.  Starts 10.30am to 4.00pm

Entry fee – €80 per team.

School teams of 8 players (fee €80 per team). Each team plays 5/6 games, league format.

The Girls All-Ireland Schools Finals 2024

Venue: The Bridge Center, St. Mary’s Road, Galway.

Thursday the 6th June, 2024. Start at –   10.30 am Presentations – 3.00pm

Each team will play 5 games. School teams of 4 players. Players should bring lunch and a drink to the venue.

Fee:   €40 per team.

Prizes: For the top 4 teams .. with Star Player awards for the best players on each of the other teams.

1st = St Catherine’s, Dublin.

2nd =St Laurences, Dublin.

3rd = St Maires of the Isle, Cork.

4th = St Anthony’s, Cork.

The Shield section was won by GMA Knocknacarra, Galway. With St Felims, Cavan in 2nd place and Limerick ETNS in 3rd place.

Thanks to parents and teachers who supported the event and gave their students a great day of competitive chess. Below is the league table:

Conratulations to everyone who participated, and especially to convincing champions St. Catherine’s, Donore Ave. Dublin 4.

This year the entry fees paid by schools covered all the normal costs and allowed us to purchase a new cup for the National champions.

In the background are the very strong St. Anthony’s team with their 4th place medals.
